আরও একবার ইউনূস-নেতৃত্বাধীন অন্তর্বর্তী সরকার প্রমাণ করলো যে তারা অনিয়ন্ত্রিত “মব” ও রাজনৈতিক সহিংসতা, টার্গেটেড হামলা এবং হত্যাকাণ্ডের ধ্বংসস্তূপের ওপর দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। সরকারের অক্ষমতা ও নীরবতা যেমন স্পষ্ট তেমনি আমাদের বিশ্বাস করার যথেষ্ট কারণ রয়েছে যে তারা এই সহিংসতার সঙ্গে সরাসরি জড়িত এবং এগুলো সম্ভবত তারা উৎসাহিতও করছে। বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসে উসকানি, সরকারি নিষ্ক্রিয়তা এবং মব-হামলার অন্যতম ভয়াবহ ঘটনার পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে, ২০২৫ সালের ২০ ডিসেম্বর প্রকাশিত এক প্রতিবেদনে  নেত্র  নিউজ বলেছে, নিষ্ক্রিয় থাকার মধ্য় দিয়ে “চরম ডানপন্থী উগ্রবাদীদের সহিংস হতে দিয়ে এবং তাদেরকে দায়মুক্তি দিয়ে  ইউনূস সরকার নিজেই বাংলাদেশের জনগণের জন্য এক বিপদে পরিণত হয়েছে।”

নিউ এজ-এর সম্পাদক নুরুল কবির, যিনি দ্য ডেইলি স্টার ও প্রথম আলোর কার্যালয়ে মব-হামলার সময় ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে যান এবং সেখানে শারীরিক ও মৌখিক হয়রানির শিকার হন, পরবর্তীতে বলেন যে এই সরকার এসব হামলা সংঘটিত হতে দিয়েছে। তবে আমরা জোর দিয়ে বলতে চাই—এই সুপরিকল্পিত হামলা, ভয়ভীতি প্রদর্শন ও হুমকির সবচেয়ে বড় ভুক্তভোগী হলো বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ, প্রান্তিক ও সংখ্যালঘু জনগোষ্ঠী—নারী, যৌনকর্মী, হিজড়া ও ট্রান্স মানুষ, জাতিগত ও ধর্মীয় সংখ্যালঘুরা। দলিত হিন্দু কারখানা শ্রমিক দীপু চন্দ্র দাসকে পিটিয়ে ও পুড়িয়ে হত্যার ঘটনা সেই উগ্র প্রবণতারই ফল, যা ইউনূস সরকার পদ্ধতিগতভাবে বাড়তে ও ছড়াতে দিয়েছে।

সরকারের মুখস্থ, ঘটনার পরের লোকদেখানো উদ্যোগ আমরা প্রত্যাখ্যান করি—বিশেষ করে যখন দেশের সবচাইতে ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ নাগিরকদের বিরুদ্ধে সহিংসতার পক্ষে সম্মতি তৈরির কারখানা ও উসকানি অব্যাহত থাকে; যখন এক উগ্রবাদী, পিতৃতান্ত্রিক, সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠতাবাদী ধর্মীয় ফ্যাসিবাদ কেবল জুলাইয়ের অভ্যুত্থানের চেতনাকে নস্যাৎ করেনি, বরং পুনরুত্থিত হয়েছে। ইউনূস সরকারের অংশীদারত্ব ছাড়া এই প্রতিক্রিয়াশীল ও কুটিল প্রকল্পের কোনোটিই সম্ভব হতো না।

এই অগণতান্ত্রিক ও জবাবদিহিতা বিহীন সরকারের সবচেয়ে উদ্বেগজনক বৈশিষ্ট্য হলো জনগণকে বিভ্রান্ত করার চেষ্টা। বিশ্বজুড়ে এখন পর্যাপ্ত প্রমাণ রয়েছে যে বেশি অস্ত্র মানেই কম সহিংসতা নয়। অথচ আমরা আতঙ্কের সঙ্গে লক্ষ্য করেছি—মানুষের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে সম্পূর্ণ ব্যর্থ একটি সরকার ও রাষ্ট্র, যে সহিংসতার সঙ্গে নিজেই জড়িত, সেই সহিংসতাকেই অজুহাত বানিয়ে আরও সহিংসতা ও অধিক সামরিকীকরণের পথ খুলে দিচ্ছে। 

তড়িঘড়ি করে জাতীয় নির্বাচনের প্রার্থীদের জন্য আগ্নেয়াস্ত্রের লাইসেন্স দেওয়ার নীতি প্রণয়নের মাধ্যমে সরকার শুধু নিরাপদ, শান্তিপূর্ণ ও ন্যায়সঙ্গত সামাজিক পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করার দায়িত্ব থেকে সরে দাঁড়ায়নি; বরং এক বিপজ্জনক প্যান্ডোরার বাক্স খুলে দিয়েছে। এর ঝুঁকি হলো—মাফিয়া ও বেসরকারি মিলিশিয়া গঠনের সম্ভাবনা, বিচারবহির্ভূত হত্যাকাণ্ড আউটসোর্স করা, এবং রাষ্ট্রের সুরক্ষা ও নিরাপত্তার দায়িত্ব বেসরকারি বাহিনীর কাছে হস্তান্তর ও বেসরকারিকরণ। 

আমরা এই নীতিকে অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের পূর্ববর্তী আরো কিছু কর্মপরিকল্পনার সাথে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ বলে দেখতে পাচ্ছি। যেমন, ১৮–৩৫ বছর বয়সী তরুণদের আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র চালনা ও যুদ্ধকৌশলে প্রশিক্ষণ এবং রপ্তানিমূখী সামরিক শিল্পঘাঁটি তৈরীর পরিকল্পনা। 

আমদের প্রশ্ন: 

সরকার কি সক্রিয়ভাবে বাংলাদেশকে অস্ত্রে ভরিয়ে দিতে চাইছে—বেসরকারি, চুক্তিভিত্তিক বাহিনী ও মিলিশিয়া গড়ে তুলে আরও সহিংস সমাজ নির্মাণ করতে চাইছে? যদি সহিংসতার অজুহাতে আরও অস্ত্রীকরণই লক্ষ্য না হতো, তবে সরকার কি এত দ্রুত পদক্ষেপ নিত—যখন অন্য ক্ষেত্রে আমরা বারবার ইচ্ছাকৃত ও পরিকল্পিত নিষ্ক্রিয়তা দেখেছি? সহিংসতার প্রধান টার্গেট ও ভুক্তভোগী সংখ্যালঘু ও ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ জনগোষ্ঠীর হাতে অস্ত্র দেওয়ার কথা কি সরকার কখনও ভাববে? 

আমরা উদ্বেগের সাথে আরো লক্ষ্য় করছি যে এই বেপরোয়াপনার নিন্দা ও প্রতিরোধের বদলে, যারা নিজেদের প্রগতিশীল মূল্যবোধের ধারক বলে দাবি করেন—সেই রাজনীতিবিদ ও সুশীল সমাজ নেতাদের প্রতিক্রিয়া ছিল নীরব ও ক্ষীণ; শুধু তাই নয়, গণমাধ্যমে আমরা জেনেছি—কয়েকজন প্রগতিশীল রাজনীতিবিদ নিজেরাই আগ্নেয়াস্ত্রের লাইসেন্সের জন্য আবেদন করেছেন।

আমরা দাবি জানাই:
১) আগ্নেয়াস্ত্রের লাইসেন্স অনুমোদন ও যুবকদের যুদ্ধপ্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচি ঘিরে নীতিনির্ধারণ প্রক্রিয়ার অবিলম্বে, স্বচ্ছ ও স্বাধীন তদন্ত করতে হবে;
২) এসব কর্মসূচি বন্ধ করতে হবে;
৩) প্রতিটি হত্যা, রাজনৈতিক সহিংসতা, উসকানি ও মব-হামলার নিরপেক্ষ তদন্ত, বিচার ও শাস্তি নিশ্চিত করতে হবে।

ইউনূস সরকার যে বাংলাদেশের জনগণের সর্বোত্তম স্বার্থে কাজ করেনি বরং দেশকে চরম ডানপন্থীদের জন্য নিরাপদ আশ্রয়ে পরিণত করেছে তার প্রমাণ রেকর্ডে রয়েছে। এবং আমরা উইনুস সরকারকে দায়মুক্তির লাইসেন্স দেব না।

Once again the Yunus-led interim government stands on the ruins of unmitigated mob and political violence, targeted attacks, and murders. Not only is its inability and silence glaring, but there is every reason to believe it is complicit and perhaps encouraging such violence. In the aftermath of one of the worst instances of incitement, government inaction, and mob attacks in Bangladesh’s history, in an article published on December 20, 2025, Netra News said that in its failure to act, the “Yunus government has become a danger to the people of Bangladesh by allowing far right extremists to be violent with impunity.” The editor of New Age, Nurul Kabir, who was physically and verbally harassed while he rushed to the scene of mob attacks against the offices of The Daily Star and Prothom Alo, later assessed that this government has allowed these attacks to take place. But we must stress that the worst victims of these orchestrated attacks, intimidation, and threats are the most vulnerable, marginalized, and the minoritized in Bangladesh – women, sex workers, hijra and trans people, ethnic and religious minorities. The lynching and burning to death of a Dalit, Hindu factory worker, Dipu Chandra Das is the result of these extremist tendencies that the Yunus-government has systematically allowed to proliferate and metastatize.

We refuse to accept the government’s rote, post-facto window-dressing attempts, especially when the manufacturing of consent, incitement against our most vulnerable compatriots continue unabated, when a chauvinist, masculinist, majoritarian version of religious fascism has not only sabotaged the spirit of the July uprising, but has become resurgent. Without the Yunus government’s partnership in this reactionary and malicious project, none of that would have been possible.

The most troubling feature of this undemocratic and unaccountable government is an attempt to hoodwink the populace. There is by now ample evidence from around the world that more guns can’t reduce gun violence. But we have observed with horror that a government and state in its utter failure to ensure safety for the people, has used the pretext of violence it is complicit in to usher in the possibility of more violence and further militarization. By hastily concocting a policy to issue gun licenses to national election candidates, it has not only abdicated its responsibilities to provide a safe, secure, peaceful, just environment in society, it has further opened a dangerous pandora’s box. That is the danger of the creation of mafia and private militias, the outsourcing of extrajudicial killings, contracting out and privatizing the duties of protection and safety from the state to private armies. We also view this policy congruent with other previous programs of the interim government, such as, training youths aged 18-35 in firearms shooting and combat skills and drawing Bangladesh more deeply into the military-industrial-complex by investing in export-oriented defense manufacturing, and we question its motives. 

Is the government actively trying to flood Bangladesh with guns, to create private, contracted armies and militias, to engineer a more violent society? If the aim weren’t more armament with the pretext of violence, would the government act so rapidly because we have repeatedly witnessed deliberate and designed inaction otherwise? Would it ever consider providing guns to minoritized and vulnerable communities who are the primary targets and victims of rampant violence? Furthermore, instead of condemning and resisting this recklessness, the politicians and civil society leaders who purport to uphold progressive values have only offered a muted response; not only that, we have learned from the media that several progressive politicians themselves have applied for gun licenses. 

We demand: 1. an immediate, transparent, and independent investigation into the policymaking process surrounding the approval of gun licenses and youth combat training programs; 2. their curtailment; 3. impartial investigation, trial, and punishment for each and every instance of murder, political violence, incitement, and mob attacks. By making it a safe haven for the far-right, the record shows that the Yunus government hasn’t acted in the best interest of the people of Bangladesh, but we will not allow it the license of impunity.
